David Maguire is now CEO of the Shanghai Daily, China's only English newspaper. He was appointed as the inaugural Chief Executive of Advance Cairns in June 2002 and was at the forefront of instigating vital connections with the Chinese government and business sector which the region is now reaping the rewards from the inroads made in trade and exporting opportunities. David began his career as a journalist who moved up the media ranks to hold some of the highest positions within the print media realm. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is Chairman of the Far North Queensland Chapter and holds the position of Chairman on the board of the Cairns Regional Gallery.
